English language for business, study, conversation or travel
From 69.18 C$ /h
The class would begin with a needs analysis, finding out the student’s level, problems (ie grammar/pronunciation/fluency/vocabulary) and also why they need help with their English(ie for work/study/travel). The class would then start work on whichever area the student”s language needs indicate. Correction and language rules would be incorporated in practice. The great majority of the class would be student practice in whatever type of English is needed.

About Me
I have been teaching English to adults (16 and over) for over 40 years, both abroad (Turkey and China) and in England, in private language schools International House and the London School of English) and latterly I’m the Universities of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The basis of my teaching is to establish a rapport with the student or students, creating a relaxed atmosphere where students can express themselves freely. Then o focus on the needs of the student - are they preparing for an exam, do they just wish to communicate effectively or do they have specific professional goals ie giving business presentations or interacting with customers in retail or tourism - the class has to focus on student needs. After that, I aim to maximise practice - ensure that students use the English they need as much as possible during a class, my role being correction and input of grammar, vocabulary etc as and when needed. Most students have learned some English at school but often learn rules rather than practising. For me, guided practice in a relaxed but focussed environment is the key to student success.
Education
I took my undergraduate degree University of Cambridge and, after 30 years of teaching, took a post-graduate degree University of London, Institute of Education
