My name is Xavier.
I was born in Barcelona... a long time ago. I grow up in this town, but now I live a bit far from here. I studied at the University of Barcelona and in Huddersfield (near Shefield, Halifax, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool,...not very far from York: quite nice places and better people), and I've been teaching Catalan, Spanish, Phillsofy, History and English for a long time...since I was 16. What happened? Very short, I promise: I was walking down the street two years ago, from just opposite this private school, and I thought myself: well, you might enter this place and see. I like English language very much... and the UK,... but I don' t have a poster of the Queen on my bedroom's wall. It was a sort of a blind date. And there she was: her smile, her diligence, effectiveness. Eva listened to me. And after two weeks she was texting me for a class. Please, Xavier, can you cover for some classes? And here I am. English Studio, Academy of English in Barcelona, where I used to be a teacher until Covid 19 knocked at the door of our lives, and teachers and students had to be at home.

And last but not least, every day monitoring work, keeping an eye on the activity of premium learners, ensuring the team was taking the necessary proactive action, either by phone or email.
I had to support very often other colleagues in accordance with business needs and to share ideas to improve business practices and the quality of the service.

Hello! My name is Anthony and I am an English teacher! I have a lot of experience learning and teaching languages and I love to share my knowledge with others.

My methodology is to incorporate the new language into your day to day with simple, interesting and fun tasks. It relies heavily on conversation so that students lose their fear of speaking and can express themselves confidently and effortlessly. As an experienced and qualified teacher of Science, Maths, and English I offer two different sets of classes. I have taught in high schools in Ireland for three years and before that I completed a degree in Medicinal Chemistry.

English as Second Language
Learning another language is a difficult process and at different times your needs will vary. At times more focus on grammar and vocabulary is needed to help you reach the next level of understanding. At other times a focus on pronunciation and conversation is needed to enhance your fluency. At this class the teaching will be adaptive to your needs and we can set common goals together.

Science and Maths
Preparing to undergo exams can be daunting and it is much better to keep up with your class as opposed to falling behind and trying to catch up while under pressure right before your exam. In this class we will go over what you are learning at the minute on your course as well as looking forward to the next topics so that you are prepared when your teacher introduces it in class. This will avoid feeling lost moment that happens when new topics are introduced and will help you get the most out of your teachers instructions.

A passionate and creative student with more than 10 years of experience in communication in the English language. I am here to help you discover the world of English in a fun and very practical way.

My main goal is to improve your speaking by using only English during our classes, as well as enhance your grammar, reading and listening skills. The classes with me are engaging and full of creativity. Moreover, I differentiate myself from other tutors by using my own methodology in teaching. My lessons are a combination of many books, where I pick the most efficient exercises to learn and make a personal "book" for each student depending on what requires more work. From time to time, I organise a group call/meeting, where my students and I communicate with each other over a cup of tea. I have completed an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examination in 2019 with a CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) level of B2. In my last EF SET (EF Standart English Test) in 2022, the results have shown an Advanced English Level (C1). In addition, I have studied bachelor's in Psychology in English for 3 years. These days, English is my first language to use in day-to-day life, which allows me to practice it 24/7, always finding something new for myself to learn.

Maybe you would like to focus on one of the four main elements of the language: vocabulary, grammar, speaking, and writing. It is important for me to take into account the level of a person, to create confidence and thereby stimulate speech. I apply the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for better results. After each class, we evaluate and at the beginning, we talk about what we learned in the last class. Repeating is necessary and many times not experienced as fun, but together we will make it something fun!
