About Me
I have been teaching private lessons at language schools in Bangkok since 2015 and have learned a lot over the years mostly teaching privately, but also group, business, and online lessons. During that time, I have developed my own teaching methodology to focus on the individual student's requirements and how I can best serve them and cater the lesson to them. I value working with all the students I meet and always strive to provide the best possible instruction that will lead to their improvement. As a language learner myself, I have a lot of respect for students who continue studying into adulthood at any level because it can be hard for people to challenge their limitations in order to broaden their English ability.
I was lucky that my high school had a Japanese language program so I studied Japanese there for 3 years. After I graduated from Western Washington University, I immediately traveled to Japan and taught English at an elementary school and private lessons for a year on a small island near Kobe. Later on, I taught English in Kashima for a nonprofit organization, where I received much training and attended Pacific Language System (PLS) Seminars in Tokyo. I still utilize a lot of what I learned in those seminars in my classes.
In conclusion, I believe that my experience teaching both in Japan and Thailand and living abroad really help me to identify with all my students, and being a language learner myself I understand a lot of the hurdles that students have with English, whether it be with verb conjugation or pronunciation. It is truly gratifying for me when I can see clear improvement in my students' ability.
