As a percussion and drum tutor, I offer personalised lessons designed to help students of all skill levels develop their rhythmic abilities. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, I tailor my teaching style to meet your needs, focusing on both technique and musicality. I teach a range of percussion instruments, including drum kit, snare, latin percussion, tuned and more, while emphasising solid foundational skills, improving timing, and enhancing coordination. I also specialise in tuned percussion, such as xylophone and vibraphone, helping students develop pitch recognition and melodic playing. In addition, I incorporate Latin percussion, teaching instruments like congas and pandeiro, to explore rhythm and groove in diverse musical styles. With a passion for music and an approach that prioritises fun, my lessons aim to motivate you to progress, build confidence, and truly enjoy the art of drumming.

About Me
I'm not just a percussionist—I'm a rhythm adventurer! From drumming in circus tents to grooving with theatre troupes around the world, my career is a whirlwind of beats, energy, and creativity. Whether playing with Giffords Circus, rocking international arts festivals, or jamming with eclectic music groups, I know how to bring percussion to life in the most exciting ways. I want you to experience the same joy I have at playing drums and percussion, some instruments you're very familiar with and others you've never heard or seen before!

My experience isn’t just about hitting drums—it’s about storytelling, expression, and making music accessible to everyone. I've worked with children, dancers, clowns, acrobats and community groups, proving that rhythm isn’t just something you play—it’s something you feel. As a tutor I have an infectious enthusiasm, vast experience, and deep passion for music make every lesson an adventure. Whether you want to master a groove, explore world percussion, or just have fun with rhythm, learning with me is like stepping into a musical playground where anything is possible!

Experience / Qualifications
I'm a freelance drummer and percussionist living in Todmorden, Calderdale. Originally from Croydon, South London, I moved to Manchester where I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music from 2004-8. I've performed nationally and internationally with various theatre and circus companies including Giffords Circus, Circo Raluy (Catalonia), Ramshacklicious street-theatre company, Can’t Sit Still theatre company, Spymonkey comedy theatre, No Fit State Circus and 1927 Theatre company. I've performed at international arts festivals including, Melbourne, Spoleto Charleston, Shanghai and Edinburgh and performed on every continent!

I perform with groups and performers including afro-futurist artist Nwando Ebizie, vintage pop band The Black Shakes, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners and percussionist Delia Stevens.

I work for the charity Fund - who help children with additional and complex needs communicate through music. I also works for Music for the Many, a Todmorden based charity providing free of charge music opportunities to children in the area. I accompany dance classes with the company CAT at the Lowry. I started and run the Calderdale Fantasy Orchestra, in Todmorden, an all inclusive group playing an eclectic music of music from Sun Ra to David Bowie, Radiohead to Beverly Glenn-Copeland and with a heavy emphasis on improvisation.

I have taught for various music services (Rochdale, Warrington, Bristol) and given workshops for the Royal Northern College of Music, Leeds College of Music and Live Music Now.
