About Me
It gives me great pleasure to work with children, youngsters and adults. I have had students of various backgrounds and ages. It is never too late to start learning the piano, or to pick it up again!
Whether you are a started, advanced, or (aspiring) professional, all are welcome. It’s very important to me to find the right approach with every individual. In the end, piano lessons are 1 on 1, and so the relationship between teacher and student is all important.
The music pieces are chosen according to the level of every student, but most importantly is the joy in playing the instrument. Making music is and should be a wonderful experience.
Of course, if you want to prepare for an exam, competition, concert/... you are at the right address.
History of music, training of the hearing are elementary parts of my education, as is of course the specifical piano technique training.
My lessons are in French, English, German, Dutch, Luxembourgian... and can take place at my place or the student’s or online.
I come from Belgium, where I was born in a musical family; my father is a trompet player and my three brothers are all professional musicians.
When I was 5 years old I wanted to follow in my brother’s footsteps and learn an instrument. I learned violin, trumpet and percussion before I finally landed on the piano. Early in my life I realized the piano would take a central role in my life, but for my parents it was equally important to have other activities; I played tennis for many years, did gymnastics and swimming, and I’m still playing badminton to this day.
When I was 9, I was accepted in the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where I studied, as the youngest student ever admitted, in the class of the renowned pianist Abdel Rahman El Bacha. I graduated with the Highest Distinction ever given. During my time in the Chapel, I had the incredible opportunities to have lessons from Dmitri Bashkirov, Menahem Pressler, Rudolf Buchbinder, Artemis Quartet,...
This education in the fine french tradition gave me an early love for Chopin. After having studied in Germany I developed a profound interest in composers as J.S.Bach and F. Schubert.
Encouraged by my teacher I started participating in competitions, where I was very successful: First Prizes at Steinway International Competition,Stephan Dejonghe Competition, Cantabile Piano Competition, Gretry Competition,...
One of the most special experiences I got early in my life, when the Queen of Belgium, H.M. Queen Paola, invited me to play with orchestra at the Royal Christmas Feast in the Royal Palace in Brussels. This concert was live transmitted on radio and national television.
Music Festivals have brought me great joy as well in my career, as well as meeting and bonding with other international musicians, it is a great chance to play together with people from all around the globe. I was honored to be invited to perform in festivals such as the International Steinway Festival in Hamburg, Encuentro de Musica y Academia de Santander in Spain, Festival de Vexin in France,...
One of the most challenging but also most grateful musical experiences is to play with an orchestra as a soloist. From a young age I was lucky to have gotten the opportunity to play with numerous orchestras, such as the Simon Bolivar Orchestra of Venezuela, the National Orchestra of Belgium, Orchestre de Chambre de Wallonie, Symphonieorkest Vlaanderen,...
After finishing my highschool degree of ancient Latin and Greek, I started the Bachelor of Music in 2011 in the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Prof. Dr. Jan Michiels, where in 2016 I got my Master Degree, as well as a Prize for Special Merit to the School.
in 2013 I was accepted in the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hanover, in the class of Prof. Markus Groh. Out of 200+ candidates I was chosen for one of the only 4 available places, as only european student as well.
Later, when Prof.Markus Groh decided to take up professorship at the University of Arts Berlin, I moved with him to continue my studies in Berlin.
I received my Master Degree at the University of Arts Berlin with the highest possible score.
In 2020 I started teaching in the Conservatoire de la Ville d’Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg, where in 2023 I was offered a position as Professor.
