I am an English teacher with 26 years experience of KS3 and GCSE exams. I have a full understanding of the GCSE exam for both reading and writing. I focus thoroughly on the knowledge and skills required for each question on the paper, enhancing the students' awareness and confidence in approaching the exam. I know the mark schemes for the exams in detail and ensure all the assessment objectives are covered. I am fully qualified (English degree and PGCE) to teach both Language and Literature as well improving performance at KS3 in reading and writing skills.
I am a friendly, confident teacher of teenagers and adults alike. I have an easy, approachable manner which is essential in creating a positive relationship with leaners both face and on screen.
I have been teaching in secondary schools in the UK all my career and still currently teach 2 GCSE classes. I have been Head of English, Head of Literacy and Director of Teaching and Learning during my career. I would now like to focus more fully on tutoring and helping students realise their potential and unlock their dreams for the future.
