About Me

Teun studied cultural anthropology and philosophy in Leiden. Since 1991 he has covered conflicts worldwide, such as Ex-Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Colombia, Iraq, Liberia, DR Congo, North Korea and Syria for international magazines and publications. He wrote books about the underground homeless in New York (Tunnelmensen, 1996) and about the bloody civil war in Sierra Leone (How the body? Hope and horror in Sierra Leone, 2000).
In 2008 he focused on drug violence in Mexico and made the photo book Narco Estado. Drug Violence in Mexico (2012). He also wrote a PhD thesis that appeared as Mexican Drug Violence. Hybrid Warfare, Predatory Capitalism and the Logic of Cruelty (2020). In 2020, he researched the Belgian drug problem in connection with the Netherlands on behalf of the city of Antwerp. He edited the research report into the much-discussed book DRUGS: Antwerp in the grip of the Dutch syndicates (2020). In September 2022, his latest book entitled Drug van de Devil: the global rise of crystal meth was published.

In my classes you learn Spanish at your own pace and with flexible hours. At school you learn Spanish and when you speak to the people themselves it is completely different.
Spanish is my mother language so I can teach you correct Spanish and also prepare you to communicate with Spanish speaking people.

My goal is that you feel comfortable and speak the language confidently.

I also offer classes for children in Spanish. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep up with a second language and I definitely want to help them with that.
