Welcome to my Maths, Physics and Science tutoring class, crafted especially for young minds preparing for IB MYP, IGCSE, and GCSE exams. As a passionate learner and dedicated tutor, I am committed to helping students not only comprehend but also develop a love for these captivating subjects. Here's what you can anticipate from my tutoring sessions
Personalised Learning: Every learner is unique, and I believe in tailoring my teaching methods to suit each student's individual needs. I don't judge; instead, I concentrate on understanding their strengths and areas for improvement to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
Concept Breakdown: I dissect complex topics into simpler, more manageable parts, making it easier for students to grasp challenging concepts and build a strong foundation in Physics and Science.
Student-Centred Approach: I enjoy teaching students and continually strive to ignite their curiosity and passion for learning. I aim to make each lesson engaging and enjoyable, helping students recognise the real-world applications of what they learn.
Shared Strategies: As a student who has successfully qualified for the Engineering Entrance exam test and is currently studying abroad on a fully funded scholarship, I bring my own learning strategies and study techniques to the table. These proven methods will help students achieve their academic goals.
Continuous Improvement: I am always learning and growing, just like my students. This continuous improvement mindset, which I actively promote, inspires and motivates students to strive for their best. It enables me to stay updated with the latest educational trends and techniques, ensuring that my students receive the best possible guidance.
Supportive Environment: I encourage students to ask questions, no matter how trivial they might seem. By creating a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, I ensure that students feel comfortable and open to express their doubts and curiosities, leading to a deeper understanding of the subjects.

Extra information
Often, we overlook certain subjects and topics when we are young, only to realize later how simple they could have been with the right guidance. My aim is to be that guiding light for students now, so they don't look back wishing they had better instruction to help them excel.

About Me
Hello, I’m Prashil! 👋
I’m a private tutor specialising in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Chess, with a strong academic background in Mechatronics Engineering.
♟️ If you’re interested in Chess lessons, you’ll find a short introduction to my chess coaching and teaching experience further below.
My engineering studies have given me in-depth knowledge of Mathematical Analysis, Linear Algebra and Geometry, Physics I and II, Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Machine Design, Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery, Fluid Machinery, Analogue Electronics and Digital Electronics.
Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching students as young as 5 and as old as 73, from curious young beginners and international-school students preparing for examinations to competitive chess players and working professionals.
Every Student Is Unique
One of the most important things I’ve learned through teaching is that no two students learn in exactly the same way.
I’ve worked with students with ADHD and dyslexia, visually impaired learners, students who use wheelchairs, and children who have struggled with confidence or felt misunderstood at school.
I have particular empathy for students who have experienced bullying, discouragement from teachers or the feeling that they simply aren’t good enough.
I believe that struggling to understand something doesn’t mean a student isn’t capable of learning it. Sometimes, all they need is a different explanation, a little more patience and someone who genuinely believes in them.
In my lessons, students are welcome to ask questions, make mistakes and take the time they need to understand. I never want anyone to feel embarrassed about not knowing an answer.
Why Private Tutoring When We Have YouTube?
Let’s face it: today, we can learn almost anything on YouTube.
Whether it’s solving quadratic equations, understanding Newton’s laws or studying a chess opening, there are thousands of excellent videos available for free.
But watching someone solve a problem and being able to solve it independently are two different things.
A video can’t always recognise exactly where you’re struggling, notice a misunderstanding or change its explanation when something doesn’t make sense to you.
That’s where I believe a good tutor makes the difference.
I don’t simply explain a topic and move on. I ask questions, observe how students approach problems, identify gaps in their understanding and adapt my teaching accordingly.
Sometimes we need to return to the basics. Sometimes we need more practice. And sometimes a student already understands the concept but lacks the confidence to attempt a question independently.
My job is to recognise that difference and help each student move forward.
How I Approach Teaching
I prefer a structured but flexible approach.
We begin by understanding the student’s current level, identifying difficulties and strengthening the foundations. From there, I gradually introduce more challenging problems through practical examples, personalised exercises, revision and regular assessments.
I encourage students to explain their reasoning instead of simply memorising solutions.
I also believe in reviewing mistakes, tracking progress and keeping parents informed about what we’ve covered and what still needs attention.
My aim isn’t simply to help students answer the questions we practise together. It’s to prepare them for questions they’ve never encountered before.
♟️ A Little About My Chess Coaching
Chess holds a special place in my teaching journey.
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching complete beginners, young competitive players and adults who make time for chess alongside their professional responsibilities. Some of my students even attend lessons during their breaks from work.
One of my proudest achievements has been helping a young student progress from learning the basics of the chessboard to reaching a rating of 2100 at just 10 years old.
My students have also achieved strong results at Amsterdam Grand Prix tournaments and participated in Dutch national chess competitions and Tata Steel Chess events.
I believe chess should be understood, not just memorised. I explain the purpose behind moves, encourage independent thinking and provide practical exercises to reinforce what we learn.
I also personally review my students’ Chess.com games to identify recurring mistakes, recognise improvements and plan lessons around their individual needs.
Having experienced the frustrations and excitement of chess myself, I understand that every player has good days, difficult games and moments of self-doubt.
I want to be more than someone who teaches chess for an hour. I want to understand my students’ challenges and support them throughout their chess journey.
My Commitment to Students and Parents
I understand that private tutoring is an investment. Parents and students are trusting me with their time, education and hard-earned money, and I take that responsibility seriously.
I want every lesson to have a purpose, every exercise to contribute to improvement and every student to feel that their efforts are leading somewhere.
My ultimate goal isn’t to make students dependent on private lessons. It’s to help them become confident, capable and independent learners.
For me, one of the most rewarding moments in teaching is seeing a student who once said, “I can’t do this,” begin to say, “Let me try it myself.”
That’s the kind of progress I work towards with every student.
