About Me

Brief Biography:

Bea is a freelance sound designer, composer and performer of classical viola and live electronic music, born in Madrid and based in Amsterdam, trained at ESMUC (Barcelona) and the Amsterdam Conservatorium.
As a performer, she has played on stages such as L'Auditori in Barcelona, Sala Beckett and the Auditorio Nacional de España, and her work has been presented internationally her work has been presented internationally at venues such as RADION, ADE festival 2025, Zone2Source (Amsterdam), and Bios.Romantso (Athens). In addition to her solo projects and collaborations with other artists as a performer, she has developed sound design projects for film, as well as interdisciplinary collaborations with dance and theatre. Part of her current research focuses on sound spatialization and surround sound systems, studying their connection with musical expressiveness to push the boundaries of immersive audio experiences.

I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now!
Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation.
Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works.
This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry.

In this course you will learn techniques, patterns, phrasings and drum vocabulary to be able to play whatever interests you. This course is not limited to any specific level. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced, this course will focus on your personal interests as a musician. We will explore the instrument from a contemporary perspective based on tradition in order to not only survive in any musical context, but also exceed expectations. We will work together to develop all aspects of a good contemporary drummer: technique, control, coordination, independence, creativity and expression. I'm a professional bass player living in Amsterdam. I have a passion for teaching and passing on some of the knowledge that I have acquired during my studies at several schools and heard from the musicians I look up to. I've done my bachelor degree at The Royal Academy of Music in Denmark, and I finished my Masters at Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2024.

I teach double bass, electric bass and composition.

Musically I try to be as open as I can. For me it doesn't matter if it's free jazz, traditional jazz, pop or metal as long as it feels good.

I'm a leader of my own group where we combine jazz and indie rock. we will release our debut album this fall.

I'm also a sideman in several groups.

As for composition I have experience with composing for regular jazz groups, big band, string quartet and irregular constellations such as my band with three guitars and three horns.

Some thoughts about teaching:

I believe that the most important thing when teaching is having a good relation to one another and generally just having a good time. If we don't enjoy the process we don't learn.
You should feel comfortable saying how you feel and what you want to learn/don't want to learn. With that transparency I will be able to customize the teaching and balance the curriculum so that I meet your needs while pushing you into unknown territory.
