My name is Toby. I am offering drum lessons to people of any age or skill level in the city of Amsterdam.
I have played and loved the drums since I was 6 years old, and completed grades 1-8 with Trinity Guildhall.
I was taught for 12 years in England, and I aim to pass on what I have learned from my education and playing experience to new students.
I believe that good technique must be practiced in order to access the range of musical expression possible with the drums. I aim to teach it comprehensively and practice it with students rigorously, so that they can develop their creative vocabulary and ultimately apply this to their own practice and playing.
Learning how to listen is essential to playing an instrument. I aim to develop students’ listening and ability to play with sensitivity and feeling, something that is essential when playing with other musicians.
I ultimately want to inspire students to make music. I consider this the most thrilling and creative reason to learn an instrument.
Sessions will be in English, and held at a hired practice space in the city.

I think it is important to learn a good musical basis adapted to your student's needs and skills. I am a guitar teacher and a school musician so you can learn everything in the music field. Classical guitar, song accompaniment with vocals, singing groups for adults and children etc. Also pupils who need special guidance or a disability are very welcome. Fun and fulfillment in and through music are the most important starting points. Home schooling is also possible.

I am a brazilian musician graduated in classical guitar, with experience in jazz and brazilian music. Everything from bossa nova, samba, choro and latin music in general is my speciality. Have been teaching for 15 years now, i developed a way of teaching music based on what the student needs to develop his/her potential. It can be more practical and playfull, or theoretical and methodical.

I help beginning, intermediate and advanced songwriters establish and/or refine their songwriting routine.
Using my own book on the subject (no extra charge) and a variety of interesting assignments, I work with you to make you the best songwriter you can be!
Some basic music theory and instrumental skills are needed, but I can also help you get this under your belt.
