My name is Mandy and I'm a vocalist, composer, arranger and bandleader born in Guangdong, China and currently based out of Rotterdam, the Netherland. I teach vocal technique, vocal improvisation, Pop, rock and jazz singing, music theory and composition lessons. Besides being passionate, motivating and inspiring in teaching music, I also focus on creating crossover music between the east and the west. * SINGING LESSONS: (Pop/Jazz/Folk singing, Vocal techniques and vocal improvisation) In our lessons, we will work together on: 
- Proper posture of the body and improving your breathing and developing the resonance of your voice to create a better timber, while at the same time pay attention to intonation and articulation. - One of the main focuses of the lessons is to expand your repertoire, musicality, knowledge about different genres (jazz/pop/rock/folk), rhythms, improvisation and jazz scatting. - Through the guidance for proper pronunciation and expression of the lyrics, we will reveal and work together on different aspects of your theatrical character. - We will work on preparing for a show/audition, proper use of a microphone, stage performance techniques and several vocal recording techniques including home studio recordings. - For your motivation and development, we will use feedback from other musicians/peers/artists. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! * ABOUT ME: In 2011, I obtained my bachelor's degree from Xinghai Conservatory of Music with an Excellent Graduates Award in Vocal performance of Pop music. In 2020, I successfully obtained my Master of Music degree in Jazz Voice from Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. I performed throughout China and worked with a diverse range of artists in jazz, pop, Latin and world music from across the globe. I performed in Guangdong Spring Festival Evening Show, Xinghai Concert Hall International Jazz Music Festival, Beishan Jazz Festival, and North Sea Round Town, etc. I've been in constant pursuit of improvement and perfection, and have participated in masterclasses and workshops with many notable musicians, such as Michael Leagues (Snarky Puppy), Joshua Redman, Richard Bona and Becca Stevens, etc. My love of traditional Chinese music and poetry, influences of western jazz, Latin and pop music would be heard in my transnational, trans-cultural music project. * Reviews from my students: "I was a student of the jazz music lesson of Mandy in Guangzhou. Trusted teacher: Since graduating at the Conservatory of Rome, teaching as well as performing has been one of my passions! I have been teaching piano for more than 8 years to students of all levels and age. I have experience with children, adults and also with students with different learning abilities. My students were always encouraged to take a step further and navigate through the world of piano under my guidance. My lessons are generally from half hour (for young children) to 1/1,5 hours. Depending on the level of the student, the lesson will include solfeggio and notions of musical theory, technique exercises and study of piano repertoire. My experience lies in classical piano repertoire, including Classicism, Baroque, Romanticism and Early Modern. I try to vary the program of my lessons and to choose the repertoire with the students, based on their taste and inclination. My teaching method is very structured and reflects the methodology taught in Conservatories, Music Academies and Universities. It is aimed at creating a solid basis to prepare for exams and auditions as well as giving the instruments for independent study. This type of method is of course suited also for amateur pianists too, who just want to play in their spare time - it will give them the opportunity to check their practice and receive relevant advice. Aside from the technique, participation, passion and fun are also fundamental! I pace each lesson to the needs and the preparation of the students, listen to their requests and choose with them the right path to follow. All my students are always satisfied with the relaxed and inspiring atmosphere of our lessons!

Trusted teacher: I'm a native English speaker from the USA, living in Rotterdam. In my job as an engineer, I regularly help colleagues with their written and spoken English. I'm available to help you practice English on a regular basis on weeknights. I mainly work with students and professionals in technical fields who are interested in refining their English writing and speaking skills. I also speak fluent Dutch, as well as some Spanish and French, so I'm familiar with common English mistakes and understand what's causing them. Examples of lessons: - Reviewing written documents together, and identifying recurring errors (work emails, proposals, reports, etc.). - General conversation practice, and presentation practice. I will listen, take notes, and provide feedback on pronunciation and grammar, while we discuss various topics. - Practice speaking exercises in preparation for IELTS exams. - Assistance with job applications (reviewing English CVs and cover letters). I do not teach beginners courses in English, as I have a full-time job and this would require longer/more frequent lessons, and I do not have the training/background required to teach basic English.
