I am a passionate History, Sociology and Philosophy teacher (both ancient and modern). Fluent in Italian, Spanish and English I have taught History and Sociology in Madrid, Barcelona, North Italy and London. I can also teach Politics. Outside of the classroom, I have written and directed school plays, organized the school journals and the olympic games of philosophy. My students are of differing ages and stages of proficiency, so I have plenty of experience teaching at all levels. I consider myself a friendly and patient teacher, concerned above all else with the all round development of my students' capacity for comprehensive thought. I have a strong belief in the unification of knowledge and am always striving to incorporate seemingly disparate branches of learning into a broader horizon in order to provide my students with a sufficiently complete picture. Availability The length and frequency of sessions can be determined by the student's requirements and availability. The first lesson For any given first session I like to get to know the student, find out where they're at in their course of study, and see what their current working methods are like. Usually, talking about the current piece of homework, the next upcoming exam, or due assignment is a great way to gauge their requirements, assess where my help is most needed, and thus collaboratively devise a joint programme of work. My teaching method
I bring a broad-based interdisciplinary knowledge to a range of subjects. This allows the opportunity to consider new ideas and to place different perspectives in conversation with each other, which is an instrumental skill for improving academic writing. A lesson with me will be interactive and lucid. I am adaptable as all students are different, so I will constantly monitor and remain attentive to our learning objectives.

My teaching methods vary, but as a rule I start with an in depth account of the subject, taking care to ground it contextually, and then proceed to a discussion of the main points. Whether the lessons take more of a dialogical form or the more typical lecture type format depends on the needs and preferences of the student. The lessons will be focused on studying techniques, written exercises with supervision and recalling techniques. We will work not just to close any gaps but also help the student in learning how to optimize private study. For students who need to get up to speed with content, I can offer sessions where I present you with ideas and new ways of understanding the topic. I approach each topic according to the immediate and long-range needs of the student, whether they require help in comprehending their topic, in preparing for exams, or in planning, executing, and proofing written work. Depending on the desire and temperament of the student, I can gear my lessons either towards cramming and exam survival or towards the nurturing of lifelong learning. My general policy is also to be flexible with what the student needs of me. For example, my payment is for the hour, however I am happy to look over work and send comments. My fee is not just one hour as I work with the student in all aspects of their learning via e-mails outside the lessons. Pushing forward If you're enthralled by your subject and wish to pursue it further, beyond the bounds of learning outcomes and assessment, then I can cultivate that passion in you. If you want to improve your critical or creative writing, I can help you articulate your vision and present it according to high standards; along the way I will instill good practices that will help you in any such task.

Trusted teacher: I’m a self-employed yoga teacher freshly installed in London. I teach vinyasa yoga as slow or fast paced as you need, with a strong focus on intertwining the rich yoga philosophy with the physical practice. I trained as a Vinyasa Yoga Teacher in San Francisco at Laughing Lotus (now renamed Lotusland Yoga) with Jasmine Tarkeshi and Brima Jah. This teacher training was life changing for me, and as I soaked in Jasmine & Brima’s knowledge, kindness and values, I strengthened my own yoga practice and developed my own way of sharing yoga with others. My approach to teaching can be summarized in three major commitments: - honouring yoga’s roots: I use both sanskrit and english names for asanas, I’m passionate about yoga mythology and love sharing the stories behind my favorite shapes - offering teachings that represent the whole yoga philosophy: yoga is so much more than a workout, my classes always have an intention to them, they tend to be focused on one or two of the chakras and include at least another of the eight limbs (pranayama, one of the yamas or niyamas, meditation...) - making my classes accessible to various communities and identities: yoga is for all! I offer many options in every asana to make them accessible to all bodies, I always encourage practitioners to rest as needed and follow their own pace, and I avoid using gendered cues that are inherently exclusive. I’ve lived in many places and I've worked as a medical imaging software engineer for six years. A year ago, I quit my job and spent a sabbatical year with my partner, traveling Europe in our van. This year-long journey taught me so much and reinforced my confidence that I want yoga to be a major part of my life (both professional and personal). So as we settle into our new home in London, I’m taking this opportunity to focus on my career as a yoga teacher.

I have just begun an MSc in Data Analytics and I am looking to tutor Maths not only to help support my studies but also to fulfil a long held desire of mine to help children learn Maths. I love Mathematics and have always had a desire to teach it and bring it alive to those either wanting to know more or to help those having difficulty bedding down some of the concepts. Having had some tutoring myself during my Physics A level I have first-hand experience seeing how much value the additional support of a Tutor can add to a student's existing classroom knowledge. From the perspective of a teacher / tutor - I have two younger half siblings that have had difficulty with Mathematics growing up but have always enjoyed sitting down and helping the grapple different topics they came across in various homework exercises. I find it hugely rewarding the moment you see concepts 'click' with those studying the topic. Although I have not formally worked in a tutoring capacity previously, I believe I possess a number of qualities which make me well suited to teaching Maths. My career path to date training to become an Actuary has seen me continue to use and develop my numeric knowledge, particular in the field of statistics. My roles in industry too have developed my communication. Working as an Investment Analyst in my first job particularly gave me the opportunity to improve explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences as I would often have communicate complex Investment Strategy options to the trustees of pension schemes, many of whom would not have a numerical background. Lastly, I think my personality lends itself well to tutoring. Those familiar with any of the 'colour profiling' personality evaluation exercises available might recognise me as an 'Earth Green' type. To those not familiar, the dominant traits that best describe an Earth green are patience, supportive and considerate - all of which I hope I can leverage to help students overcome any difficulties they are having with the topic. With a bit of guidance around which areas of Maths you are looking to improve on I think I could really help bring alive the field of Maths for you. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
