Teis - AmsterdamC$93
Trusted teacher: My name is Teis. I am a Danish guitarist trained in Jazz music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and USC Thornton School of Music (Los Angeles). I have played since age 7, studied since age 13, and played professionally since age 18. I work professionally as a band leader, composer, and side person. After around 25 years of experience on the guitar, I can confidently say that I am equipped to share the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years. In all honesty: I have never found myself to be particularly "talented". But I am a hard worker. I truly believe that talent is not something you are born with, but something you can develop and grow. Together we will explore secrets and tips for a healthy guitar routine. We will improve your technique and ear training abilities with direct and fun exercises. Whether you are just a beginner or an intermediate/advanced guitarist, we can explore the instrument and all its possibilities. Practicing and playing with a teacher in a one-on-one situation is the most effective way to get better faster, and I advise it to all the guitar and music lovers out there. In my guitar course, we start from where you are at and set a goal fitting to what you want to achieve. For example, our focus could be a.o.: Fingerpicking Soloing Accompanying yourself Songwriting Two ways to go about it; Single lesson: We go from where you are at the moment, and I help you move forward. 5 or 10 lesson bundle: I will make a detailed plan for you and we will conclude the lessons with a performance of some sort. I will help you elevate and broaden your skill set, in your preferred style, but also ear training and theory. We will build a sustainable practice routine together, and you will get access to a library of practice play-alongs and manuals, that you can use to build a solid platform as a musician! Looking forward to hearing from you :)

Trusted teacher: I teach violin to children and adults, beginners and advanced. Every student is unique. Besides developing good technique, I also enjoy meeting each student's musical wishes and dreams. Learning to play the violin is a collaborative process! From the very first lesson, I pay a lot of attention to playing together, because making music together is the most fun there is! In addition to individual lessons, I support my students' playing in orchestras, ensembles, and bands. There are also several opportunities to perform with the accompaniment of a professional pianist. Once a year, I organize a video recording day with several students for competitions and contests. My students have won awards, both in the Netherlands and internationally. In addition to individual lessons, I offer a "MY LITTLE VIOLIN" STROLL COURSE for children aged 3-5. This course consists of 10 lessons for young children, introducing them to music and the violin. I also offer this course to English- and German-speaking children. I teach violin in four different languages: Dutch, German, English and Italian. Violin lessons at home are also possible. About Me: I'm a violinist with the Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam. I've worked with numerous orchestras both in the Netherlands and abroad. I also perform chamber music and Brazilian choro (Duo Chorinho, with Alvaro Rovira Ruiz on guitar). I received international training at the conservatories of Hamburg, Rome, and Amsterdam. I have been working as a violin teacher for over 30 years, including internationally, including a masterclass for Brazilian violin students at the University of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Trusted teacher: Lesson Plan: Enthalpy Changes in Chemical Reactions Grade/Level: Secondary / IGCSE / AS level Duration: 60 minutes Topic: Enthalpy Changes in Reactions Lesson Objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. Understand that chemical reactions are accompanied by enthalpy changes, which can be exothermic or endothermic. 2. Construct and interpret reaction pathway diagrams, showing enthalpy change and activation energy. 3. Define and use key terms: standard conditions (⦵), enthalpy change of reaction (ΔHr⦵), formation (ΔHf⦵), combustion (ΔHc⦵), and neutralisation (ΔHneut⦵). Lesson Breakdown (60 minutes) 1. Introduction (5 minutes) Begin with a real-life hook: Ask: “Why does burning wood release heat, but dissolving ammonium nitrate in water feels cold?” Link to lesson: These are examples of exothermic and endothermic reactions. 2. Theory: Enthalpy Changes (10 minutes) Define enthalpy (H): The heat content of a system at constant pressure. Define enthalpy change (ΔH): Heat energy transferred during a reaction at constant pressure. Distinguish: Exothermic reaction: ΔH is negative (heat released). Endothermic reaction: ΔH is positive (heat absorbed). Give simple examples: Exothermic → combustion of methane. Endothermic → thermal decomposition of calcium carbonate. 3. Reaction Pathway Diagrams (15 minutes) Draw and explain two diagrams: Exothermic pathway: Products lower in energy than reactants, ΔH negative. Endothermic pathway: Products higher in energy than reactants, ΔH positive. Introduce activation energy (Ea):Minimum energy needed for reaction to occur. Label diagrams clearly: Reactants → peak (activation energy) → products. Highlight ΔH and Ea. 4. Standard Conditions and Key Enthalpy Terms (15 minutes) Explain standard conditions (⦵): 298 K (25°C), 101 kPa pressure, substances in standard states. Define and discuss: Standard enthalpy change of reaction (ΔHr⦵): Heat change when reaction occurs in molar quantities under standard conditions. Standard enthalpy of formation (ΔHf⦵): Heat change when 1 mole of compound is formed from its elements in their standard states. Standard enthalpy of combustion (ΔHc⦵):Heat change when 1 mole of substance is completely burnt in oxygen under standard conditions. Standard enthalpy of neutralisation (ΔHneut⦵): Heat change when an acid and alkali react to form 1 mole of water under standard conditions. Use simple examples for each (e.g., combustion of methane, formation of H2O, neutralisation of HCl with NaOH). 5. Guided Practice / Mini Activity (10 minutes) Students sketch their own reaction pathway diagrams (exothermic and endothermic). Label ΔH and Ea. Pair discussion: “Why do we still need activation energy even for exothermic reactions?” 6. Exercise (Homework / Classwork) (5 minutes) Answer the following questions: 1. State whether each reaction is exothermic or endothermic: a) Burning propane gas in oxygen. b) Photosynthesis in plants. c) Dissolving anhydrous copper(II) sulfate in water. 2. On a reaction pathway diagram: Show ΔH and Ea for an endothermic reaction. 3. Define the following terms and give one example each: a) Standard enthalpy of formation (ΔHf⦵) b) Standard enthalpy of combustion (ΔHc⦵) c) Standard enthalpy of neutralisation (ΔHneut⦵) 4. Under standard conditions, the enthalpy of combustion of methane is –890 kJ mol−1.

Bart - AmsterdamC$86
Trusted teacher: - Dutch courses - All levels - Online lessons - Individual & Group Hi! My name is Bart and I have a passion for language and coaching/teaching. Having lived in several different countries I know how challenging it can be to learn a new language and to put it into practice. Especially Dutch, with it's unusual pronunciations and structures. During our lessons I will explain how to deal with such issues and show you that Dutch is actually quite a structured language and a lot less complicated that often suggested. I am a positive and optimistic person and this is also how I teach. I focus on how to do things right rather than wasting energy on why things are wrong. This creates a nice learning atmosphere and it also makes the course much more productive. I like to have an open communication with my students and encourage them to let me know what their difficulties are and what they want to improve. When learning a language it is very important that you can quickly put into practice what you have learned. This naturally motivates you to learn more. For that reason I find it important that it is clear from the beginning what the language needs and wishes of my students are so we can work towards your goals in an effective way and make sure you are able to apply what you have learned as soon as possible. The reason why I like teaching so much is because I enjoy showing people what they are capable of and to help them develop their skills. Another reason is that it allowes me to open the door for you to a great language and culture!

Byeongsu - AmsterdamC$60
Trusted teacher: 우리 수업은 이렇게 진행될 거예요! I plan to integrate the techniques of drama education into teaching Korean! It's like teaching a baby their mother tongue! I will teach every lesson Korean through actions and acting out situations. Learning this way will make Korean feel much more familiar in your daily life compared to learning through textbooks and grammar. Just like teaching a native language to a child, our lessons will be fun and playful, and slow. So, let go of the idea that 'studying means sitting at a desk and memorizing words and grammar.' We will progress together and create our own materials. +모든 수업은 한국어로 진행됩니다. 하지만 절대로 걱정하지 마세요! 아주 천천히 그리고 이해할 수 있는 몸 동작으로 진행해서 여러분들 모두 이해할 수 있을거니까요! - For Basic level: We will start from the very basic level, focusing on Korean alphabet spelling (ᄀ,ᄂ,ᄃ,ᄅ, ᅡ,ᅣ,ᅥ,ᅧ ...) and pronunciation. We will emphasize speaking! - For Beginner level: we will use children's storybooks and short videos (the ones I actually watched and grew up with) as learning tools. Up to the beginner level, we will concentrate on listening and speaking rather than writing. We all learn by listening and speaking when we are babies. - For intermediate level: we will use short novels and movies. From intermediate level onwards, we will practice listening and writing down what we hear, along with expressing our thoughts in a diary. -For advanced level: Even at the advanced level, the format will be similar to the intermediate level, with a focus on 10 minutes of conversation. We will record these conversations and transcribe them, making improvements for more natural expressions!

I enjoy very much my weekly lessons with Bart. He makes learning Dutch and its culture a fun and entertaining experience, while speaking Dutch as much as possible, using English only when really necessary. The diversity of the exercises and the fact that he alternates often between listening, speaking, reading and explaining the grammar makes it very enjoyable to learn and practice. It also helps me keep my concentration without getting bored by long repetitive exercises. Bart is super friendly and patient and he makes sure to adapt the lessons to your needs from the beginning and throughout the course. I highly recommend Bart!
