Head of history at a London school. I teach Year 7 to 11. Main subject board is Cambridge IGCSE modules for 3 exam papers for USA depth study, the Cold War, Treaty of Versailles, Appeasement and League of Nations. My goal is to keep students challenged, but not overwhelmed. I assign homework after every lesson and provide periodic progress reports.

I provide A-level and GCSE History tutoring. In classes we will work on strengthening knowledge of the subject as well as practice essay structures/planning and exam technique. Homework will be set when necessary but I will always take into consideration the students' school timetable first. I will happily provide progress reports. For Bachelor students in History/International Relations/ related subjects the classes are individually designed to address the concerns of the student. Alongside my tutoring work, I am a professional playwright and theatre critic. I have studied theatre at the University of York, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and I am a member of the Soho Theatre Writers Group. My plays have been staged at the Edinburgh Fringe, York Theatre Royal and across Fringe venues in London. With my A/AS-Level Drama support classes, we will examine and explore the history behind a number of the key texts on the specifications for OCR, Pearson and EDUQAS: Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo Saved by Edward Bond In classes, we will look at the context in which these plays were written, the cultural impact they had and how to use this in essays to demonstrate your broader knowledge of the set texts. Aside from the plays themselves, it is important to understand the wider world of theatre. We will look at the plays of Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet and Theatre of the Absurd for Dario Fo. The history of Theatre censorship and the Royal Court Theatre is crucial to understanding Edward Bond's Saved. This class will give you the opportunity to explore these complex texts with a practising playwright, and the expanded knowledge of these plays will give you that edge when it comes to the exam.

I teach how to write History essays and analyse historical sources and texts. Also, I teach how to learn content efficiently. I have a GCSE and A-Level in History, an EPQ in Ancient English Poetry and currently I am studying History at the University of London. I have been tutoring since September and have thoroughly enjoyed helping my KS2 students in working on their English skills in preparation for both SATS and 11+. Following achieving my GCSE results, I now feel more prepared to move onto a larger range of subjects. I am passionate about helping students to do the best that they can and to reach their potential. It is hugely rewarding to see progress being made. I achieved 10 GCSE grades, with a grade 9 in English Literature, Language, History and Religious Studies, a grade 8 in Geography and an average grade of 7.5 across the board. All my grades were the equivalent of A* to B, the majority being A* and A equivalent. I believe that the best way to teach is through gathering and creating a large range of resources to ensure that all necessary content is being covered and that content is being accessed through a variety of mediums that will allow for it to be learnt and understood quickly. Furthermore, at this level, working with examination questions is essential. It is vital that students familiarise themselves with mark schemes and I will make sure to teach students how questions are marked, ensuring that the right structures are used too. Communication with parents is also key and I would deliver this through weekly or bi-weekly bulletins for groups and parent emails and phone calls too. Finally, I would focus on revision methods and make sure that you have access to a range of strategies that will make your learning experience more enjoyable, engaging and successful. This class serves as support for students undergoing GCSE or A-Level History. Aiming to help cultivate curiosity and also to tackle the technical aspects of the GCSE and A-Level curriculum. Classes will vary based on the needs of the particular student and their progress through their course, from the actual content through to skills such as essay writing and source analysis. Support can be in the form of full lessons, guided revision, or working through exam preparation.
