ABOUT ME: Joan Fort (1997) is a Spanish jazz guitarist and composer based in Amsterdam. He holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Guitar from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Temple University (Philadelphia). He also coursed the prestigious course Tribeca Jazz Institute in New York in the Fall 2024. During his studies, he trained with world-renowned artists such as Peter Bernstein, Pasquale Grasso, Jesse van Ruller, Dick Oatts, Mike LeDonne, Grant Stewart, Carl Allen and Bruce Barth, among others, gaining a deep understanding of jazz tradition while exploring a more contemporary approach to improvisation. His co-led project, The Dam Jawn, released its debut album Master St. (2023, Challenge Records), featuring jazz legend Dick Oatts. The album, nominated for the Edison Jazz Award 2024, was presented in Europe and India, including performances in Mumbai, Goa, and Bangalore. In July 2024, the group performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival with Jeremy Pelt as a special guest. Later that year, they released their second album, Forward! (2024, Cellar Live). Their third studio album, recently recorded with Jeremy Pelt, is set for release in the Fall 2025. In January 2025, Joan released his first album as a leader, So Far, So Good (Fresh Sound Records), which was showcased during a European tour in May 2025, covering Germany, Spain, Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, and France, with jazz icon Vincent Herring on alto saxophone as a special guest. His upcoming second album as leader, Hangin’ In, was recorded in New York with an all-star lineup including Grant Stewart, Michael Weiss, David Wong, Aaron Kimmel, and rising tenor saxophonist Daniel Cohen as a special guest. Besides, he's just recorded another album with his trio and Vincent Herring which will be released next year 2026. Despite his young age, Joan has already built an extensive international career, performing across Europe, the USA, and India alongside world-renowned musicians such as Dick Oatts, Jeremy Pelt, Vincent Herring, Grant Stewart, Jorge Rossy, Bill McHenry, Benjamin Herman, Michael Weiss, Joris Roelofs, Jasper Blom, Rita Payés, Virginia MacDonald, David Wong and Magalí Datzira. Most recently, Joan attended the Tribeca Jazz Institute (NYC), where he studied with Pasquale Grasso, Peter Bernstein, Grant Stewart, Mike LeDonne, David Hazeltine, Ed Cherry, and Carl Allen. Joan has also taught masterclasses and workshops at very prestigious institutions such as Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London, UK), JazzHall (Hamburg, DE), ESMUC (Barcelona, ES) or DSJazz Academy (París, FR). Joan has performed at prestigious festivals and venues worldwide, including the North Sea Jazz Festival (NL), Sunset Sunside (FR), Blue Note Poznan (PL), Chris’ Jazz Café (USA), Bimhuis (NL), the Voll-Damm International Barcelona Jazz Festival (ES), Jamboree (ES), JazzHall Hamburg (DE), Windmills (IN) or Bangalore International Center (IN).

Trusted teacher: Hello everyone, Μy name is Marianna and I am a concert artist and guitar tutor. I have nurtured a profound love for classical guitar since my childhood and commenced my musical journey at the age of 10. After attending the National Conservatory of Athens, I graduated with the highest honours. Furthering my studies, I joined the Royal Brussels Conservatory, where I undertook the Bachelor of Music programme under the tutelage of Antigoni Goni. Keen to explore different cultures and musical scenes, I opted to pursue further studies in Berlin, where I trained under Rainer Feldmann. Whilst studying at the Universität der Künste in Berlin, I cultivated a distinct passion for Baroque music and received tutelage in Baroque guitar and theorbo from Sam Chapman. During my studies, I provided private guitar tutoring and also taught at a state music school in Berlin/Brandenburg for five years from September 2018 until August 2023. During this time, I created and oversaw a guitar class of more than 35 students of diverse ages and skill levels. To complement my teaching methodology, I formed three guitar ensembles, ranging from trios to quintets, which incorporated chamber music. After at least twelve years of teaching guitar to several children and adults, I firmly believe that students should have hands-on experience with the instrument from their very first lesson, and at the same time be introduced to music theory. I follow a method that emphasizes the development of critical basics in my students to enable them to comprehend music and the instrument through theory and solfeggio, utilizing scores instead of tablatures. Depending on the preferences of the student, we can explore a diverse range of repertoires, encompassing classical and folk genres, among others. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked effectively and efficiently with learners of all ages and experience levels, from complete novices to those readying themselves for university-level assessments (such as Grade 8 ABRSM). I am proficient in English, German, and Greek, and possess a rudimentary understanding of French. For those residing in Berlin/Germany, I currently exclusively offer online lessons. Thank you very much, Marianna

I decided to enter into the guitar world at age of 35. I found Nikola on this site and I feel lucky since I found the will and the passion I was looking for from time. I was almost sure playing guitar is something you start since you are a kid, but I was wrong. Thank you to Nikola in only 1 lesson at time gave me the right "charge" to go on in this journey. In only one year I see significant results. (I can confess, a lot of hard work from my side :) but the starting moment was decisive). His friendly attitude and his pation is the best attribute I can associate to this teacher. Thank you Nikola!
