For over 30 years I have been passionately teaching individual and group lessons to people of all levels. I am Gianni, a born and raised Florentine who has been living in Delft for quite some time. Florence, the birthplace of the Italian language, is also the city of Dante Alighieri, the founder of modern Italian. No, we are not related 😉, but just as Haarlem in the Netherlands is known for its ABN pronunciation, Florentine Italian is considered the standard language. I proudly convey this authentic Italian in my lessons. Professional experience I am currently a teacher of Italian at the Volksuniversiteit Delft, after having previously taught for four years at the Volksuniversiteit Rotterdam. In addition to my work as a teacher, I am also a professional singer of traditional Italian folk songs. I like to integrate this passion into my lessons, because music is a powerful tool for learning a language. Well-known lyrics and melodies not only make the learning process more fun, but also more effective. I often accompany my singing with guitar, which creates an authentic Italian atmosphere. Teaching method For beginners, I use an accessible textbook that explains the basics of Italian step by step. During the lessons, I immediately correct mistakes in sentences or pronunciation, so that you gain more confidence in speaking. My approach is practical and interactive: every mistake is an opportunity to learn something new, whether it is a word, a grammatical rule, an anecdote or a cultural context. In addition, we pay attention to Tuscan cuisine and culture, so that you not only learn the language, but also experience the rich Italian lifestyle. The lesson and learning materials provided is very well structured and paced. Mrs Rattana caters to each student’s learning style. I was amazed and pleasantly surprised how much I learned in my first lesson with Mrs Rattana (1-hour conversational + 1 hour for reading writing) that I couldn’t believe it was just the first meeting with her! I find myself grasping the Thai language so much more than I could ever learn by myself despite the wealth of online resources. Very glad I made the decision to learn Thai with Mrs Rattana guidance :) At the time of writing, I have completed by 3rd class and more to go. My goal is to reach and master the basics. I highly and truly recommend Mrs Rattana class to anyone who wishes to learn Thai competently, at a pace that stretches you a little but not too out of reach. Despite the challenge in learning a new language, rest assured that you’ll be well guided.

I had my first Italian lesson with Davide on 24/9/21. My first impression was very good because he does a very good assessment before he starts of your level and of your goals and based on that he adopts his learning approach perfectly yo your needs. I give Davide a 5 rating after one lesson and would be very surprised if my view of him will change. On top of his ability as a teacher, he is a very nice and modest person. He knows how to drive a conversation and seems have a lot of patience! Looking forward to the next lesson!

Catherine was perfect for our daughter studying A -level in England. Catherine was very flexible when we arrived early due to a mix up of timings.
