About Me
Dancer and dance teacher in Toulouse at Âm Métis, a dance school she created, Valérie has been teaching dance with passion for more than 10 years. Having grown up in Niger and Ivory Coast, then lived in France, Senegal and Mali, her dance career is mixed.
Education
Trained in classical, modern-jazz and hip-hop dances from childhood, she discovered contemporary dance and African dances in Paris and deepened them for nearly 3 years with the National Ballets of Senegal and Mali, as well as in the villages of the Lebou and Khassonké ethnic groups.
Valérie encountered Cuban and Afro-Cuban dances with Gregorio Hernandez, known as "El Goyo", founding member of the Conjunto Folclorico Nacional de Cuba, and later developed them with Yeni Molinet, dancer of the Conjunto Folclorico Nacional de Cuba, as well as in numerous masterclasses.
Music being for her inseparable from dance in order to experience and understand it, she also learned to play certain instruments related to the dances she practised: classical and jazz piano, congas, sabar, and dundun (Cuban and African percussion).

Experience / Qualifications
Through her musical and dance career, Valérie is particularly interested in the African roots of dances, as well as the energy and joy they convey.
Her complete training allows her to approach the dances she teaches with authenticity, musicality, a precise analysis of the placement of the body, and a pedagogical approach adapted to each one. But what drives her above all is to create bridges between cultures, through dance.
